Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Zagreb
Upon arrival at the Zagreb airport you will be met and taken to your centrally located hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to relax in one of the city’s many cafes or begin your exploration of the cosmopolitan Croatian capital. Dinner and overnight Hotel Westin or Hotel Sheraton.

Day 2 Zagreb
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the city that includes the historic upper town, St. Mark’s Church, St. Catherine’s Church, the Cathedral, Parliament and the Government Palace. Afternoon is at leisure to shop for handicrafts or visit one of the city’s museums. Overnight Hotel Westin or Hotel Sheraton.

Day 3 Zagreb-Sarajevo
This morning drive through the countryside of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to its capital, Sarajevo. Dinner and overnight Hotel Europa or Hotel Holiday.

Day 4 Sarajevo-Mostar-Dubrovnik
Sarajevo has been influenced by a number of cultures and civilizations. On your city tour you will visit the picturesque Turkish bazaar the “Bas Carsija”, the Husref Bay’s Mosque, Olympic Stadium and the Sarajevo War Tunnel Museum. Later you will continue your drive through mountains and along the marvelous gorge of the Neretve River to Mostar, where you will see the remains of the Turkish quarter and the reconstruction efforts of the historic 16th century single arch bridge. Late afternoon arrival to Dubrovnik. Dinner and overnight Hotel Lapad or Hotel Lacroma or Hotel Argosy.

Day 5 Dubrovnik
After breakfast you will be taken on a walking tour of the old town. You will see the Rector’s Palace, Bell Tower clock, Orlando’s Column and the Sponza Palace. You will also see the famous Dominican Monastery and the Franciscan Monastery with it’s pharmacy, one of the oldest in the world. Afternoon will be at leisure. Overnight Hotel Lapad or Hotel Lacroma or Hotel Argosy.

Day 6 Dubrovnik-Montenegro-Dubrovnik
Today you will be taken on an excursion to the Republic of Montenegro, driving towards the mouth of the beautiful Bay of Kotor, the longest and deepest fjord in Southern Europe. You will visit the towns of Risan and Kotor. After you will proceed to Cetinje, the one time seat of the Montenegrin rulers, today it is a museum. After your tour of Cetinje you will return to the coast for a short stop at famous Sveti Stefan and Budva. Overnight Hotel Lapad or Hotel Lacroma or Hotel Argosy.

Day 7 Dubrovnik-Split
This morning depart Dubrovnik and travel north along the spectacular Adriatic coast, past old fishing villages and new resorts to Split. Upon arrival you will enjoy a city tour featuring the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor’s Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. See the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle and the Cathedral. Dinner and overnight Hotel Atrium.

Day 8 Split-Trogir-Plitvice Lakes
After breakfast, head north along the coast to Trogir, the center of artistic activities, where scholars from around the world gather to study and paint. Your journey continues as you turn inland towards the beautiful Plitvice Lakes National Park. Dinner and overnight Hotel Jezero.

Day 9 Plitvice Lakes
Today you will have a full day to enjoy the Plitvice Lakes which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage list. The breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder of 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush vegetation. In the morning, you will be taken on a walking tour around several of the lower lakes. Afternoon is at leisure. Dinner and overnight Hotel Jezero.

Day 10 Plitvice Lakes-Opatija-Postonja Caves-Bled
Return to the coast to the beautiful Bay of Kvarner and its popular resort, Opatia. An orientation tour of Opatia will present the highlights of this former Imperial resort city. After your visit here, drive across the border into Slovenia to the Postojna Caves, home to one of the largest caves in Europe. Tour the fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train. Afterwards, continue to Bled, beautifully set in the Julian Alps for dinner and overnight. Hotel Park or Hotel Rikli Balance.

Day 11 Bled-Ljubljana-Bled
Morning tour of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Here, view the central open-air market, Baroque Town Hall, Robba’s Fountain, the Three Bridges and the Parliament. Followed by a sightseeing tour of Lake Bled features the charming town with the lake shore, and imposing Bled Castle, perched on a hill high above the lake. Return to Ljubljana in the evening. Overnight Hotel Park or Hotel Rikli Balance.

Day 12 Ljubljana-Trieste–Venice
Leave Bled, driving south to Trieste, Italy for an orientation tour and visit to the Miramare Castle and its park. The castle was built by the Hapsburg Monarchy on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Then, continue on to the marvelous city of Venice. Overnight at the Hotel Bonvecchiati Venezia.

Day 13 Venice
After breakfast you will be taken on a walking tour of Venice. You will see the Golden Basilica of San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, St. Mark’s Square and the Piombi Prison. Afternoon is at leisure to shop for Venetian glassware or stroll along the winding canals. Dinner and overnight Hotel Bonvecchiati Venezia.

Day 14 Venice-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport or you may extend your stay in beautiful Venice. You can also extend your vacation and visit Florence and/or Rome.
