Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Bucharest
Upon arrival you will be met and taken to your centrally located hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to begin your exploration of the Romanian capital known as the “Paris of the East.” In the afternoon you will be taken on a walking tour of the city center including visits to the ruins of the Princely Court, the Manuc Inn and the Stavropoleos Church. Dinner and overnight in Bucharest Hotel Victoria Tower or similar.

Day 2 Bucharest-Snagov-Sinaia
After breakfast depart for Sinaia with a stop at Snagov to visit the monastery located on an island in the middle of Lake Snagov, where Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) is said to have been buried. Continue to the beautiful town of Sinaia. In Sinaia you will visit the Peles Palace the former summer residence of King Carol and the Sinaia Monastery. Dinner and overnight Hotel Palace in Sinaia.

Day 3 Sinaia-Bran-Brasov-Sighisoara
This morning drive to Bran to visit the famous Dracula’s Castle built in 1377. Later visit Brasov, a fairy-tale town founded in the 12th century by Saxon settlers. Brasov still preserves its beautiful medieval atmosphere created by many Middle Age buildings. The highlight of the tour will be a visit to the Gothic Black Church, the largest Gothic style church in South-Eastern Europe. Later you will arrive to Sighisoara, A Saxon medieval fortress-town which is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site as the best preserved and continuously inhabited early medieval citadel in the world. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Sighisoara or similar.

Day 4 Sighisoara-Biertan-Sighisoara
In the morning you will be taken on a walking tour of Sighisoara with visits to the famous Clock Tower Museum and the Torture Room, the Evangelical Church and the Armor Room. You will also visit the house in which Count Dracula/Vlad the Impeller was born and the Church on the Hill. Continue to the Saxon village of Biertan where you will visit the fortress church that is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The church hosts the largest wing alter in Romania and was used as the residence of the Lutheran bishop of Transylvania for over 300 years. In the late afternoon return to Sighisoara for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Sighisoara-Medias-Sibiu
After breakfast drive to Sibiu with a stop at the town of Medias on the way. Medias was first mentioned in documents in the 13th century. You will visit the Evangelical Church and the Old Town. In the afternoon you will arrive to Sibiu the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2007. You will visit the well preserved medieval area of the town and see the Grand Square, Lesser Square, Evangelical Cathedral, Baroque Church and the Liars Bridge. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Ramada in Sibiu or similar.

Day 6 Sibiu-Cozia Monastery-Bucharest.
In the morning depart Sibiu for Bucharest and cross the Carpathian Mountains through the scenic Olt river valley with a stop and visit to the Cozia Monastery, built in the 14th century on the way. Dinner and overnight in Bucharest at the Hotel Victoria Tower or similar.

Day 7 Bucharest
This morning you will be taken on a tour of Bucharest known as “the Paris of the Balkans.” You will visit the Village Museum, the House of the People, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon, the Romanian Atheneum, Opera House and the Triumphal Arch. This evening you will enjoy dinner with folklore show. Overnight in Bucharest.

Day 8 Bucharest-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport or you can extend your stay in Bucharest or take an optional trip to the world famous painted monasteries or Bulgaria.
