There is no more magical time of year to visit the Alpine countries than during the Advent and Christmas seasons. Christmas Markets are found in most cities and towns especially those which are historic and quaint. You will hear Christmas music, see beautifully decorated Christmas Trees, and taste Lebkuchen, gingerbread, and Gluhwein, hot mulled wine, as you shop for regional arts and crafts which are sold in the many decorated booths that fill the markets. You are sure enjoy this festive time of year and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Itinerary

Day 1 Frankfurt.
Upon arrival to Frankfurt self transfer to your centrally located hotel. Remainder of day to enjoy the traditional Christmas Market located in the town square. Hotel Intercity or similar.

Day 2 Frankfurt-Heidelberg-Baden Baden-Black Forest.
Depart Frankfurt this morning and drive to Heidelberg for a walking tour of the old university town. Next stop is one of Europe’s most famous spa towns Baden-Baden. In the afternoon continue to the Black Forest home of Cuckoo clocks. This evening you will enjoy dinner which will be served at your hotel. Overnight at the Hotel Hofgut Sternen in Breitnau or similar.

Day 3 Black Forest-Lake Constance-Neuschwanstein Castle-Fussen.
In the early morning, head to the region Allgau passing wonderful Lake Constance. during the journey you will enjoy several breaks, one of them at a real architectural treasure:the Basilica of Birnau with its spectacular lake view. You will already see the fantastic Bavarian alps before arriving at Hohenschwangau. You will see on the rugged hill above, the breathtaking fairytale castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein! after the guided tour overnight in Fussen at the Hotel Luitpoldpark or similar.

Day 4 Fussen-Oberammergau-Wies-Ettal-Munich.
After breakfast you will be taken to Oberammergau. The village is internationally famous for its Passion Play, generally performed every ten years, and for its numerous buildings with tromp l’oeil (Lueftlmalerei) painted facades. on the way to your final destination, the Bavarian capital, Munich, you will make short stops at the glorious rococo church in Wies and at the Benedictine Abbey of Ettal. In Munich you will see you all the main sights of the splendid city and finally discover the romantic Christmas Market. Free time to explore the numerous stalls with handcrafted Christmas gifts or local specialties. Taste the hot spiced wine called Gluhwein.Overnight in Munich at the Hotel Kings or similar.

Day 5 Munich-Salzburg-Munich
Today you will enjoy a full day excursion to Salzburg, the birthplace of the famous composer Mozart. City tour and visit to the Charming Christmas Market is included. We suggest you try the most famous sweets made in Salzburg the Mozartkugeln. Late afternoon return to Munich. Overnight in Munich at the Hotel Kings or similar.

Day 6 Munich-Rothenburg-Nuremberg
After breakfast drive along the Romantic Road to Rothenburg. On a city walk get to know this charming small medieval town. See the famous Jakobskirche with an alter by the famous woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider and enjoy the Christmas market. In the afternoon continue to Nuremberg. Overnight Hotel Park Inn or similar.

Day 7 Nuremberg
Today join a visit to the “Christkindl Market” the most famous Christmas Market in the world in the city of Nuremberg. On a city walk you will see the home of the artist Durer and the medieval Kaiserburg Castle. Remainder of the day is free to further explore the market. This evening you will enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner. Overnight in Nuremberg. Overnight Hotel Park Inn or similar.

Day 8 Nuremberg-Wurzburg-Frankfurt
After breakfast drive to Wurzburg. Visit the magnificent Residenz, a masterpiece of German baroque architecture. A visit to the Wurzburg Christmas Market will also be made. Late afternoon arrival in Frankfurt. Overnight Hotel Intercity or similar.

Day 9 Frankfurt-End of Tour
After breakfast self transfer to the airport or you can continue on a tour to Berlin, Zurich or Prague.
