The city lies between the sharp craggy peaks of the Lyngen Alps, and combines wild scenery with urban life. Tromso is known for having the most Northern Lights in the world! It’s located in the middle of the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) zone, and is in fact one of the best places in the world to observe this phenomenon.
