Hosted Tour-Including air from Copenhagen or Reykjavik

7 Days/ 6 Nights from Copenhagen or 8 Days/ 7 Nights from Reykjavik

November-April

When visiting Greenland, most people want to see icebergs, and the destination to see icebergs is without a doubt Ilulissat. The arctic winter landscape opens up beneath you already before the flight lands in Ilulissat. Even before you have sat foot in the small Greenlandic town, you will understand why The Ilulissat Ice Fiord is on the UNESCO world heritage list.
A new guesthouse in Rodebay north of Ilulissat opens up a new world for the adventurous traveler – a 3-days tour by dog sledge through the Arctic winter land. The dog sledge ride will take you from Ilulissat up to the little viable hunter’s Settlement of Rodebay. A full day tour into the mountains behind the village will go through pristine valleys and a long frozen river with a view towards the Ilulissat Glacier. Rodebay is a small settlement still depending on hunting and fishing, as has been the case the last 400 years since the Dutch whalers started trading with the local Inuits. The inhabitants – less than 55 persons all together – are operating a local fish processing plant, a little restaurant and the new guesthouse. In the school 8 pupils are learning about life and you will for sure meet them. The Guesthouse Nordlys provides accommodation in rooms with shared toilets and bath.
