Itinerary

Day 1 Oslo
Upon arrival self transfer to your centrally located hotel. The capital of Norway is surrounded by magnificent scenery from the fjord to the forested hills and offers a variety of shops, museums and fine restaurants. The main street with its vendors and musicians adds a unique color and charm to Oslo. We recommend a walk through the Vigeland Sculpture Park with its 175 granite sculptures, depicting all phases of human life. Overnight Hotel Opera or similar.

Day 2 Oslo-Flam Railway-Narrowfjord-Bergen
This morning self transfer to the rail station for your ride where you will experience some of the best scenery in Norway. View magnificent snow-capped mountains from the comfort of a Norwegian train as you speed along the famous Bergen Line, experience the unique Flam Railway as it snakes its way along the narrow Flam valley surrounded by soaring peaks and gushing waterfalls. The boat trip along the Aurlands and Narrowfjord is another highlight of the tour. These are the narrowest, most dramatic and yet most beautiful of the secondary arms of the Sognefjord. Your bus ride from Gudvangen to Stalheim and on to Voss offer scenery just as fantastic as the rest of the tour. Continue to Bergen by rail from Voss. Upon arrival self transfer to your hotel. Overnight Hotel Augustin in Bergen or similar.

Day 3 Bergen
After breakfast enjoy a sightseeing tour of Bergen. You will visit the major sights such as Troldhaugen, the Fantoft Stave Church and Bergen Brygge. Afternoon is at leisure. Overnight in Bergen.

Day 4 Bergen-Overnight Cruise
Today you have most of the day to experience Bergen on your own. Bergen, “Gateway to the Fjords”, is Norway’s second city and one of its most attractive. It has a delightful natural setting, with seven imposing mountains surrounding it on three sides and the island-dotted North Sea on the fourth. On a clear day, the approach to the city by sea or air is a rewarding experience, the rocky islets and towering mountains form a dramatic backdrop for the rainbow-painted houses clinging to the sides of the mountains all the way down to the waterfront. Self transfer from hotel to Hurtigruten. May 1.-September 15, Hurtigruten departures at 8 pm., after that departure at 10.30pm. Dinner and overnight on ship in cabin category selected.

Day 5 Alesund-Geirangerfjord
Enjoy the full day aboard Hurtigruten. In the morning you will reach the Jugend city of Alesund. Here you can either go a shore to have a look at the small city or you can stay aboard Hurtigruten for an excursion to Geiranger (Not included. The excursion to Geiranger only takes place during summer). On the tour through the amazing Geirangerfjod you will see several waterfalls, like the “Seven Sisters”, you will also see the mountain farms from the ship. You will be back in Alesund about 6pm and from there continue north in direction of Molde. Dinner and overnight on ship.

Day 6 Trondheim-Lillehammer
Disembark in Trondheim where you will have a few hours to visit the city. Trondheim is a charming town with a river winding slowly around the city’s downtown district and the old wharves. The most famous building is the majestic Nidaros Cathedral. The museum of Ringve is also worth visiting. Afternoon self transfer to the rail station for your Dovre rail journey to Lillehammer. Upon arrival self transfer to your hotel. Overnight Hotel Breiseth or similar

Day 7 Lillehammer-Oslo
Morning free in this lovely city and one of Norway’s top winter and summer resorts. Lillehammer was put on the international tourist map with the Olympic Winter Games in 1994. Lillehammer offers a combination of venerable traditions and modern-day attractions. We suggest a visit to the Maihaugen-Open Air Museum, Norway’s most beautiful collection of cultural history. Here you will find typical examples of rural Norwegian architecture. Later self transfer to the rail station for your ride to Oslo. Upon arrival self transfer to the Hotel Opera or similar for overnight.

Day 8 Oslo-End of Tour
Tour ends after breakfast. You can extend your stay in cosmopolitan Oslo or continue to Copenhagen or Stockholm.
