Itinerary

Day 1 Bratislava
Upon arrival in Bratislava you will be met and taken to your centrally located hotel. The capital of Slovakia is surrounded by the green foothills of the Carpathian Mountains and the majestic Danube River. This evening you will enjoy a welcome dinner at a typical wine cellar where you will taste traditional Slovakian food and hear melodic gypsy music. Overnight Hotel Crowne Plaza or similar.

Day 2 Bratislava-Trnava-Bratislava
This morning you will take a sightseeing tour of Bratislava, including Bratislava Castle and the old and modern areas of the city. Later depart for Trnava known as the “Rome of Slovakia” for its splendid amount of churches and sacral/profant architecture. You will enjoy a walking tour of the town including two entrances. Continue via the scenic route to the Small Carpathian Mountains. Here is the largest wine region of Slovakia and a beautiful Red Stone Castle which was built during the 14th century. You will enjoy wine tasting in this area. You will also visit a ceramics studio to see how local crafts are made. Return to Bratislava for overnight.

Day 3 Bratislava-Trencin-Bojnice-Banska Stiavnica
This morning depart Bratislava for Banska Stiavnica stopping en route to tour the medieval fortress of Trencin that was built in the 13th century. Continue to Bojnice for a visit to one of the most lovely and romantic castles in the country. Proceed to Banska Stiavnica where you will be taken on a city tour. This unique old mining town was the home to the first mining university in Europe. The atmosphere of this historic town set among the beautiful mountains is impressive. Overnight Banska Stiavnica. Hotel Lux or similar.

Day 4 Banska Stiavnica-Banska Bystrica-Spisska Sobota-Spissky Stvrtok-Levoca-Spis Castle-High Tatras
After breakfast the tour continues towards the High Tatra Mountians via the largest city in Central Slovakia Banska Stiavnica, where upon arrival you will be taken on a city tour. In the afternoon you will arrive to the High Tatra mountains where you will spend the night. You will also visit the town of Levoca which has the tallest wooden alter piece in the world and a lovely town hall. Continue via Spissky Stvrtok to see the Gothic church in Spisska Sobota. Your next stop will be to the largest castle ruins area in Europe, the Spis Castle. The castle is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Overnight in the High Tatras. Hotel Patria or similar.

Day 5 High Tatras-Pieniny National Park-Bardejov
After breakfast you will visit the Pieniny National Park and visit the monastery which was built in the 14th century. This large park on the Slovak and Polish borders is an area rich in historical and folk artistic traditions. The rock scenery, ridges and rich flora along with the local warm people will be one of the highlights of your visit of Slovakia. In the afternoon you will visit the UNESCO listed town of Bardejov. This exceptionally well preserved trading town of medieval times dates from the 13th century. The oblong central square is the most important part of the town that also includes the Gothic church of St. Egidius built in the 14th century, the former town hall and the Gothic Burger Houses. You will also see the town fortifications and the complex of the former Jewish bath and Synagogue. You will also visit some of the wooden churches of the area some built without the use of a nail. Overnight in the High Tatras.

Day 6 Hight Tatras
Today you have the choice of spending the day in the High Tatras for visit the city of Kosice to visit the medieval square, the Gothic Cremation Tower, and the Mikulsova Prison. Or you can choose to visit the UNESCO listed site of the Dobsinska Cave. Guide and driver is at your disposal for your choice of tour. Dinner in a traditional wooden restaurant with live music will be served this evening. Overnight in the High Tatras

Day 7 High Tatras-Piestany
Depart take the cable car ride to the Lake Skalnate. After your visit continue to the famous spa town of Piestany with a stop at the village of Cicmany for a tour of the so called Gingerbread houses. You will be taken on a walk around the spa islands. You will have free time to relax or take a treatment. Overnight in Piestany Hotel Magnolia or Hotel Park or similar.

Day 8 Piestany-Bratislava-End of Tour
After breakfast depending on flight time you will be taken to the airport or rail station. You may extend your stay in Slovakia or continue to Vienna, Prague or Budapest.
