Piestany is one of the oldest spas in Central Europe dating back to 1549. For many years the spas were owned by the Erdody family, who in 1822 built the first bathhouses which are still in operation and are protected Napoleonic Spas. Currently this modern and fashionable spa covers 40 hectares, partially in the center of Piestany but mainly located on an island formed on the Vah River. Piestany is a typical spa town with a unique atmosphere and a busy social life. Features of the town include the statue of a man breaking a crutch over his knee and the covered colonnade bridge, designed by the famous Slovak architect Emil Belus. The spa and accommodation resort is situated on the grounds of a beautiful park on the Spa Island.
The deluxe Thermia Palace hotel is a beautifully renovated Art-Nouveau gem built in 1912 and nesting in the picturesque environment of Spa Island. Located on the site of thermal springs and healing mud, directly connected to the Irma Health Spa. Immerse yourself in the unique mud and mirror pool in the luxurious spa premises.
