Itinerary
Day 1 Lucerne
Arrival in Lucerne by 1st class rail from the Swiss border or any Swiss airport. Self transfer to your centrally located hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to explore this historic city located on Lake Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne
Day 2 Lucerne-Lugano
Board the historic Wilhelm Tell paddle steamer for the cruise to Fluelen (usually operated by paddle steamer, sometimes by motor boat). Multilingual commentary on board the boat and you receive a meal voucher worth CHF 19 redeemable on board the boat. From Fluelen you continue your journey through the famous Gotthard tunnel to Bellinzona in panorama coach or 1st class couch. Change train and continue your journey to Lugano. Overnight in Lugano.
Day 3 Lugano
Today you will have a full day in beautiful Lugano at leisure. Enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere in this southern Italian speaking part of Switzerland. Stroll along the lakeside promenade or go up to Monte Bre or San Salvatore. Overnight in Lugano
Day 4 Lugano-St. Moritz
Depart this morning on the famous Bernina Express (coach) to Tirano (Italy). From there you will go by train over the Mount Bernina to St. Moritz. This exciting trip will take you through three cultures from palm trees across regions of eternal snow and to the Valley of the Young Rhine. Overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 5 St. Moritz
Full day in this winter and summer world famous resort for independent activities. Overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 6 St. Moritz-Zermatt
Today you board the Glacier Express which is one of the greatest train journeys in the world. You travel from St.Moritz to Zermatt. A 7.5 hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2,033 meters in altitude. Travel in comfort through the unspoilt natural beauty of a landscape rich in ancient, fragrant mountain forests, peaceful Alpine meadows, rushing mountain streams and mountain valleys, soaked in tradition and centuries old culture. lunch is included on board the train. Overnight in Zermatt.
Day 7 Zermatt
Full day at leisure in this beautiful automobile free village for independent activities. Overnight in Zermatt.
Day 8 Zermatt-End of Tour
After breakfast take the train to the Swiss border or to any Swiss airport. You may extend your time in beautiful Switzerland.
