Itinerary

Day 1 Longyearbyen
After your arrival to Longyearbyen’s airport you can catch the airport bus that will take you to Basecamp Trappers Hotel, were you can leave your luggage. For your night at the Trappers station, you will only need a minimum of personal items. We recommend a walk in town. There are many restaurants close that serve lunch. Your guide will meet you at 7pm. Drive to the Trappers station which is located approx. 10km outside of Longyearbyen. At the Trappers hut you will be served a 2 course dinner. Your guide will also tell stories about the hunting traditions in Svalbard. Accommodation will be in the secondary station, which is a small hut decorated as the small hunting cabins you find around the island. Your guide will be in nearby, and function as your polar bear guard for the night. As will 80 Alaskan Huskies.

Day 2 Longyearbyen
Start the day with breakfast in the hut. If the snow conditions are good, harness the dogs for a sledge trip in the Bolter Valley. Your guide will of course give you instructions. With less snow you will go for a hike instead. With the Trappers station located outside of Longyearbyen, means you have less light pollution, and better conditions for spotting the northern lights. Svalbard in one of the few places you can spot northern lights at daytime. After the trip, head back to Longyearbyen, and check in at the Trappers hotel for the next nights. We recommend dinner at Kroa restaurant next door. Overnight at the Trappers Hotel.

Day 3 Longyearbyen
Today enjoy hiking with snowshoes in the area close to Longyearbyen. Before you start you are given a headlamp, poles and snowshoes. The guide will teach you the principles of snowshoeing, and determines the route depending on weather and local conditions. Along the way, enjoy a hot drink and the breathtaking, dark silence. You will have a great view of the Advent Valley. Your guide will tell stories about the time mining was the main activity in the city. We recommend you try the Huset restaurant for your evening dinner. The reception can help you make reservations. Overnight at the Trappers Hotel.

Day 4 Longyearbyen-End of Tour
Breakfast at the Hotel. We recommend a visit to the Svabard Museum before departure to the airport. The bus stops outside the hotel otherwise the reception can help you if you prefer a taxi. You can extend your stay in Longyearbyen or continue to Norway, Sweden, Finland or Iceland.

Additional nights in Longyearbyen available.
