Itinerary

Day 1 Colonia del Sacramento-Montevideo
Upon arrival you will be met and taken on a private city tour of Colonia. You will visit Colonia’s most important attractions which has been declared a World Heritage town UNESCO. You will visit the narrow cobble stone streets, colonial style mansions, forts, Spanish and Portuguese Museums, the port, downtown,Ferrando Beach, the wonderful Coastal Rambla which borders Colonia from the Old City to the “Real de San Carlos” where you will visit the bullring, the horse race track and the old port. Continue for a visit to the Bernardi Winery, a small winery in Colonia known for its artisan production of fine wines and “grappas” produced with their own grapes. The “Grappa” is a typical strong Italian drink produced with the residue of the different selection of grapes. You will then enjoy lunch at the Buen Suspiro Bar, in the old city. during a little afternoon break you will enjoy a taste of the typical Uruguayan drink mate (type of herb tea) at Mate with Bizcochos” (Bizcocho: is the name given in several Latin American countries to many variants of buttery flaky pastry and some cookies.) Continue to the Estancia La Vigna where you will visit the dairy where homemade goat cheese is produced. Cheese tasting included today. Dinner and accommodation at La Vigna.

Day 2 Colonia-Montevideo
After breakfast at the estancia you will be transferred to Montevideo by public bus, and then a private transfer to the My Suites Wine Hotel. Located in the neighborhood of Pocitos, a very upscale residential area close to the coastline of the River Plate and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The hotel was conceived as a new concept of boutique hotel focused on the fine wines of Uruguay. Each floor has been assigned to one of the wineries selected as the most representative of the vine tradition of Uruguay and each room equipped with information on the history and characteristics of the vineyards and with wines and details of the specific winery. All of these selected wineries produce fine wines of high quality that can be discovered in the wine tasting which is included each day by an expert sommelier in charge of the fine selection of three wines that are presented with some regional tapas. Day 3 Montevideo
After breakfast,morning city tour by Montevideo, visit Montevideo’s most important attractions: the Independence Square, the Legislative Palace, the traditional Prado neighborhood, the residential zone of Carrasco, the Old City and pedestrian streets, the town hall and the cathedral located in Matriz Square. Lunch will be served at the renowned Restaurant La Pasiva. You will enjoy the typical Chivito sandwich. Chivito is the name of a sandwich-style national dish of Uruguay and consists primarily of a thin slice of filet mignon, with mayonnaise, black or green olives, mozzarella, tomatoes and commonly also bacon, fried or hard boiled eggs and ham. It is served in a bun, often with a side of French fries. Other ingredients might be added into the sandwich such as red beets, grilled or pan-fried red peppers and pickles. Rest of the afternoon free to personal activities. Then in the night local transfer to Parrillada “El Fogon” to enjoy the best asado (barbecue) in Uruguay. Wine Tasting included at hotel today. Day 4 Montevideo-End of Tour
After breakfast, you will visit the Juanico and Bouza vineyards with tasting included. The Bouza Winery was built in 1942 by Numa Pesquera following the model of a French chateau. In 2002 they restored the building maintaining the original idea.The winery now has a blend of traditional concepts and the necessary technology to ensure the best modern wine making practices. Continue to the Juanico Winery. The Juanico winery is reckoned to be the most technically advanced in Uruguay, thanks to its investment in the business and its use of the latest technology. It’s a winery that is evolving to satisfy the tastes and increasing knowledge of consumers. Afternoon transfer to the airport, bus terminal or port. You can extend your stay in Montevideo or continue to the famous seaside resort of Punta Del Este or cosmopolitan Buenos Aires.

Day 2 Montevideo
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the city that includes the old town, Cathedral, Matriz Square, Town Council, the famous Port Market and Independence Square. You will also see the Legislative Palace, the residential areas of Prado and Carrasco, the Hill of Montevideo with its fortress and fantastic view of the city, the Government House, Obelisk, the Carriage Monument and the Centenary Stadium. After the tour you will take lunch at one of the typical restaurants at the Port Market. Enjoy an authentic Asado-Parrilla (barbecue meat) menu. Drinks not included. Overnight Montevideo.

Day 3 Montevideo
Breakfast. Day at leisure to visit one of the city’s charming museums or shop for local handicrafts such as handmade sweaters. Full day tour to the famous seaside resort of Punta del Este can be arranged. Overnight Montevideo.

Day 4 Montevideo-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport, bus terminal or port. You may extend your stay in Montevideo or continue to historic Colonia del Sacramento or the jet set beach resort of Punta del Este.

Day 1 Zurich

In the morning you are free to explore at your leisure. In the afternoon enjoy a city tour of Zurich and surroundings Explore the city’s most beautiful areas: the historic center, the clock of St Peter church with the largest dome in Europe, the world famous Bahnhofstrasse, the Limmatquai, and the picturesque guild houses. Travel to Adliswil to board the cable car to Felsenegg for a panoramic view of Zurich, the lake and the snow capped peaks of the Alps. Then cross Zurich Lake by ferry and return to Zurich by bus, along the “Gold Coast” of the scenic lake shore.

Day 3 Zurich-Interlaken-Jungfraujoch- Zurich
Today you embark on a scenic bus ride to the Bernese Oberland. After a stop at Interlaken, board a cog railway to Grindelwald for an unforgettable ride through Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch At the top, enjoy the fascinating landscape of ice, snow and rock that form the magnificent Alps. Optional excursion to visit the tunnels of the Ice Palace. Return to Zurich for overnight.

Day 4 Zurich-End of Tour

Day 2 Zurich
After breakfast morning free to explore one of the cities lovely Christmas Markets. In the afternoon you will enjoy a tour of this cosmopolitan city. Discover this unique city, winner of the award “City of Best Quality of Life.” See the castle-like National Museum, the shopping and business center on Bahnhofstrasse, the Limmatquai with its medieval Old Town and view to the Lindenhof, where the brave women of Zurich saved the city from the invaders, the largest church clock-face of Europe on St. Peter, the patriarchal Guild Houses, the Opera House and the famous lake (picture stop). Enjoy the great experience traveling uphill on the cog-wheel railway (Dolderbahn) into the “Zurichberg” district with its recently renovated noble five-star Grand Hotel Dolder and many superb mansions of glorious past times. Additional highlights are the University and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). Its most famous student and professor was Albert Einstein. Finally there will be a stop in the Old Town at the Fraumunster Church, where you will admire the world-famous Chagall-Windows with detailed explanations. Day 3 Zurich-Montreux
Following breakfast at your hotel self transfer to the rail station and board your train to French speaking Montreux located on beautiful Lake Geneva. Pass through spectacular scenery including vineyards and mountain terrain until you arrive in the quaint village. Upon arrival self transfer to your selected hotel and the remainder of the day and evening are yours to enjoy. Use your Riviera Card during your stay. It entitles you to travel free of charge on the VMCV bus network and a 50% reduction on train excursions as well as museum and theme park entrance tickets. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 4 Montreux
Following breakfast at your hotel proceed to the Christmas Market where you will be immersed into a magical world of glittering lights and mouth-watering aromas. Discover the enchantment of the most beautiful Christmas market in Switzerland with its many attractions and more than 100 richly decorated stands resembling small chalets overflowing with gifts. Warm up with a mug of mulled wine along the Grand Rue at the market or at the port.You will also enjoy a 2 hour city walk. Montreux is the most frequented resort on Lac Leman (Lake of Geneva), thanks to its beautiful location and pleasant surrounding countryside. The city stretches gently along the shore of a wide, south-facing bay and rises above the lake like a huge amphitheater amidst the wooded and vine-clad slopes. Montreux has attracted many visitors since the 18th century. Its palm trees give sample proof of its mild climate. The main features of the city tour is the Vieux Montreux (the old parts of the township) and, of course, the visit of the Castle of Chillon – one of the most impressive, medieval strongholds of Switzerland, immortalized by many famous poets. Please note that the visit to the Castle of Chillon is not included but can be added with additional cost. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 5 Montreux-Basel
Following breakfast at your hotel self transfer to the rail station and board your train to Basel which is located on the border with France and Germany. Remainder of the day is at leisure to begin your exploration of the city or visit the lovely Christmas Market. or one of the city’s excellent and well known art museums. Overnight in Basel.

Day 6 Basel
This morning or afternoon you will enjoy a 2 hour private walking tour of the city. You will learn how its location on the Rhine affected the development of the city with its city walls, gates and defensive ditches, the outer districts that grew up following the industrialisation of the 19th century. You will also learn about the history of the settlement on the Cathedral Hill and the lower part of the town and the economic development of Basel from a mediaeval trading town on the Rhine to a center for fairs and its present identity as the capital of the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. An explanation of important events such as the Church Council in the 15th century, the beginning of paper manufacture and printing, the Reformation of 1529, and also the founding of Switzerland’s oldest university. Overnight in Basel.

Day 7 Basel-Zurich Airport
After breakfast self transfer to the rail station for your ride to the Zurich airport. You can extend your stay in cosmopolitan Basel and visit nearby Colmar in France or the Black Forest in Germany or continue to Austria or Ticino the Italian speaking part of Switzerland.

Day 4 Interlaken
Full day at leisure. We suggest an excursion to the Jungfraujoch the highest train station in Europe (Top of Europe) or a boat trip on Lake Brienz. Overnight in Interlaken.

Day 5 Interlaken-Montreux
Trip by train to Zweisimmen. Change to the GoldenPass Panoramic train (or optional GoldenPass Classic) for the rest of the days memorable trip to Montreux. You find yourself among alpine forests, bubbling mountain springs and picturesque mountain villages. Overnight in Montreux.

Day 6 Montreux-End of Tour
After breakfast self transfer to the rail station for your trip to the Swiss border or any Swiss Airport. You may extend your stay in beautiful Alpine Switzerland.

Optional Chocolate Train Excursion:

A coffee and a croissant will be served on board the Chocolate Train. The “Maison Cailler-Nestl” chocolate factory awaits you. Through a didactic itinerary, you will learn everything about the history of the Swiss chocolate making tradition followed by a chocolate tasting. Afterwards a bus takes you to the village of Gruyeres for some leisure time. You might go for lunch and enjoy the tasty local cheese fondue or visit the Gruyeres castle. Later that afternoon the bus takes you to “La Maison du Gruyere” for a visit of the demonstration cheese factory followed by the return travel to Montreux with the Chocolate Train.

Day 2 Stockholm
Stockholm, the beauty on the water, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, built on 14 islands and protected from the sea by Skargarden, the Stockholm archipelago. Your morning walking tour takes you to the Old Town with the Royal Palace and Stockholm Cathedral. The afternoon is at leisure. . Overnight Hotel Grand Central.

Day 3 Stockholm
Morning at leisure. At 12pm you will enjoy a Brunch Cruise in the Stockholm archipelago. The buffet is filled with traditional dishes such as cold and warm meats, various salads and breads. Make sure to leave some room for dessert, the dessert table is packed with everything anyone with a sweet tooth could desire. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful environment surrounding you. The ship is a pearl with large, airy lounges, a grand dining room and an inviting promenade deck. From the table you will enjoy a first class view while the ship cruises through the inner parts of the lovely archipelago. Day 4 Stockholm
Day at leisure. Suggestions are to go for a walk in the city and have lunch and a coffee at a coffee shop. Some coffee shops are open on this day. Most shops and all museums are closed on January 1st, so this will be a quiet and relaxed day in Stockholm. Overnight Hotel Grand Central.

Day 5 Stockholm
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport. You can extend your stay in cosmopolitan Stockholm or continue to Helsinki, Tallinn, Norway or Riga,
