Itinerary

Day 1 San Miguel de Tucuman
Upon arrival at the airport you will be met and taken to your hotel. This afternoon you will enjoy a tour of the city that includes visits to Villa Nogues and Mount San Javier. Dinner and overnight Hotel Metropol.

Day 2 San Miguel de Tucuman-Quilmes
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the Quilmes ruins. You will pass the Quebrada de los Sosa (Los Sosa Ravine) View the Monument to the Calchaqui Indians and El Mollar with its “Menhires” (monolitic stone blocks). You will also visit Tafi del Valle, a wonderful summer resort by an artificial lake and the Indian ruins of Quilmes. Dinner and overnight Quilmes Inn.

Day 3 Quilmes-Molinos-Cachi
After breakfast Depart for Cafayate, through the Calchaqui Valleys, passing the Colalao del Valle at Tolombon. You will visit Cafayate, located at 5, 577ft. above sea level. This town is one of those peaceful, colonial style settlements that evoke the feeling of a past history. In such a wonderful climate, its vineyards produce a world class wine. You will be taken on a tour of a winery. The panoramic view of the valleys continues while traveling Quebrada de las Conchas (also known as Cafayate Gorge), with colorful stone formations carved by the wind, The “Amphitheater”, the “Castle”, the “Priest” and the “Devil’s Throat”. Continue to Cachi passing by several typical villages devoted to sweet pepper farming to make paprika. Villages such as Animana, El Barrial and San Carlos de Molinos. Once in Cachi you will be taken on a tour of the town founded in the XVII century at the foot of the white snow covered peak of Cachi. Dinner and overnight Hotel Cachi.

Day 4 Cachi-Salta
After breakfast You will visit the archeological Museum and the town church. Continue across Los Cardones National Park, characteristic for its great abundance of giant cacti, upwards to Cuesta del Obispo, called the Condor’s home, reaching 12,204ft. above sea level. At this point there is a splendid and colorful view of the Calchaqui Valleys, a natural treasure located in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. Afternoon arrival in Salta. Dinner and overnight Hotel Salta.

Day 5 Salta-Humahuaca-Jujuy-Salta
After breakfast depart for a drive along the historic Humahuaca Gorge. Passing Leon, Volcan, Tumbaya and Purmamarca framed by the Seven Color Hill. Continue to Tilcara for a visit to its Archeological Museum and its old rebuilt Indian fortress (known as Pucara de Tilcara), and Uquia Church. Arrive to Humahuaca for a visit to the handicraft fair. On the return to Salta you will have a tour of the beautiful town of Jujuy. Dinner and overnight Hotel Salta.

Day 6 Salta
Breakfast. Day at leisure. You may take an optional tour Tren a las Nubes (Train to the Clouds) which travels 133 miles to Viaducto La Polvorilla and travels 13,780 ft. above sea level. available from May to October or the Safari Movitrack which follows the famous track of the Train to the Clouds. Through the Del Toro Gorge to San Antonio de los Cobres, arriving in Salinas Grandes (Great Salt Pits).

Day 7 Salta-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of Salta. Afternoon transfer to the airport. You may extend your stay in the north or continue with another tour of Argentina or visit Chile or Bolivia.
