Cruise the Icebergs

Depart:
Hosted Tour with air from Reykjavik

7 Days/ 6 Nights

June -August

This week-long tour includes the very highlights of Greenland. Experience the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ilulissat Ice Fjord during a stay at 4-star Hotel Arctic, and enjoy the Arctic landscape and tranquility during a short cruise to the capital of Nuuk on board the local steamer M/S Sarfaq Ittuk.

Ilulissat
Town of the giant icebergs and home to the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord. This is the third largest town in Greenland and a place where modern life meets traditional life style, all surrounded by amazing nature. Here, ice is the main theme; get close to the icebergs covered in the rays of the midnight sun on an amazing Ice Fjord cruise or join a full-day boat excursion to the calving glacier Eqip Sermia. You can also visit some of the remote settlements where fishing and hunting still is the only way to survive.

The Sea Voyage
Meet the local population traveling from town to town to visit relatives and friends along the coast. Enjoy the beautiful and varied landscape as you leave the rugged Arctic nature in the Disko Bay and reach the capital of Nuuk. Sail in open waters and narrow straits, so close that you can almost touch the mountains. Along the way the ship calls at the major towns and small settlements. Everywhere, the arrival of the ship makes people rush to the harbor to welcome friends and relatives. Life on board is relaxing; enjoy the view and make sure to keep your eyes open, as humpback whales are sometimes seen.

Nuuk
The smallest and northernmost capital in the world awaits you. This fascinating town of contrasts will offer you a glimpse of old Greenlandic culture and at the same time show you a modern capital with shopping possibilities, good restaurants and the beautiful Arctic nature just outside town.
