Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Sofia
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure to relax or begin your exploration of the Bulgarian capital. Dinner and overnight Hotel Ramada Sofia or similar.

Day 2 Sofia-Veliko Tarnovo
Morning sightseeing tour of Sofia. See the gold domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Crypt, a precious museum of Orthodox Art, the 4th century St. George Rotonda. Afterwards, drive to Veliko Turnovo. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Dinner in hotel. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo at the Hotel Hotel Bolyarski or similar.

Day 3 Veliko Tarnovo-Arbanassi-Veliko Tarnovo
Sightseeing tour of Bulgaria’s medieval capital. Visit Tsarevets Holy Hill, church of St. Peter and Pavel. Afternoons visit to the museum village of Arbanassi whose monumental houses and churches are generously ornamented with woodcarvings and wall paintings. One of the most lovable places to visit there is the Church of Nativity (16-17th c. AD), its Icons being one of the oldest creations of woodcarving art; tour continues with visit to Konstanzaliev House. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Drive back to Veliko Tarnovo. Dinner and overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

Day 4 Veliko Tarnovo-Kazanlak-Plovdiv
Morning departure for Plovdiv. En-route visit Etara Open-air museum. Continue the trip via the town of Gabrovo and the spectacular Shipka Pass. Arrival in Kazanlak. Lunch and visits to the Rose House and the Historical Museum and the famous 4th century BC Thracian Tomb, included on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage List. Afterwards, drive to Plovdiv through the famous Valley of Roses. Dinner and overnight in Plovdiv at the Hotel Trimontium or similar.

Day 5 Plovdiv- Bachkovo Monastery-Plovdiv
Morning sightseeing tour of the Old Quarter of Plovdiv Visit the Ethnographic museum, the Church of St.Konstantine and Helena, the Roman Amphitheater; see Jumaya Mosque (outside). Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the 11th century Bachkovo Monastery with original architecture and spectacular 17th c. AD frescoes. Return to Plovdiv. Dinner and overnight in Plovdiv.

Day 6 Plovdiv-Borvorets-Rila Monastery-Sofia
Today spend your time visiting the 10th century Rila Monastery, one of Europe’s oldest and included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. On the way to Rila, short stop to see the mountain resort of Borovets. Proceed to Rila Monastery for lunch and visits. Continue to Sofia for overnight at the Hotel Ramada Sofia or similar.

Day 7 Sofia
After breakfast spend the day in the outskirts of Sofia where you will visit the Boyana Church. Included on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage List. The church is famous for its murals from the year 1259. A visit to the National Historical Museum is also included. Lunch and afternoon at leisure. Dinner at Folkstyle Restaurant with live music. Overnight in Sofia.

Day 8 Sofia-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport. You can extend your stay in Sofia or continue to beautiful Romania

Sound & Light Show in Veliko Tarnovo is available and costs EURO 20 per person payable on the spot. Subject to availability.
