Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Dubrovnik
Upon arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to begin your exploration of this historic city on the Adriatic. Dinner and overnight Hotel Lapad or Hotel Lacroma or Hotel Argosy.

Day 2 Dubrovnik
This morning you will be taken on a walking tour of Old Dubrovnik that includes the Rector’s Palace, Bell Tower Clock, Orlando’s Column and the Sponza Palace. You will also see the Dominican Monastery and Franciscan Monastery with its Pharmacy, one of the oldest in the world. Afternoon is at leisure. Overnight Hotel Lapad or Hotel Lacroma or Hotel Argosy.

Day 3 Dubrovnik-Montenegro-Dubrovnik
Travel to the Republic of Montenegro. Head towards the mouth of the beautiful Bay of Kotor, the longest and deepest fjord in Southern Europe. See the little towns of Risan and Kotor. Then proceed to Cetinje, once the seat of Montenegrin rulers, today a city museum. After sightseeing in Cetinje, travel to the coast for a short stop in the villages of Sveti Stefan and Budva before returning to Dubrovnik for overnight. Hotel Lapad or Hotel Lacroma or Hotel Argosy.

Day 4 Dubrovnik-Split
Depart Dubrovnik and travel north along the spectacular Adriatic coast, past old fishing villages and new resorts, to Split. Upon arrival you will be taken on a tour featuring the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palce, a UNESCO World Heritage site. See the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple, the Peristyle and the cathedral. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel Atrium.

Day 5 Split-Trogir-Plitvice Lakes
After breakfast, head to Trogir, the center of artistic activities. Scholars from around the world gather to study and paint here. Continue inland and travel to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Dinner and overnight Hotel Jezero.

Day 6 Plitvice Lakes
A full day to enjoy Plitvice National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. Have your camera ready and take a walking tour around several of the lower lakes. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder of sixteen terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains and lush vegetation. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and overnight Hotel Jerzero.

Day 7 Plitvice Lakes-Opatija-Postonja Caves-Bled
Return to the coast to the beautiful Bay of Kvarner and its popular resort, Opatia. An orientation tour of Opatia will present the highlights of this former Imperial resort city. After your visit here, drive across the border into Slovenia to the Postojna Caves, home to one of the largest caves in Europe. Tour the fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train. Afterwards, continue to Bled for dinner and overnight. Hotel Park or Hotel Rikli Balance.

Day 8 Bled-Ljubljana-Bled
Morning tour of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Here, view the central open-air market, Baroque Town Hall, Robba’s Fountain, the Three Bridges and the Parliament. Followed by a sightseeing tour of Lake Bled features the charming town with the lake shore, and imposing Bled Castle, perched on a hill high above the lake. Overnight Hotel Park or Hotel Rikli Balance.

Day 9 Bled-Trieste-Venice
Leave Bled, driving south to Trieste, Italy for an orientation tour and visit to the Miramare Castle and its park. The castle was built by the Hapsburg Monarchy on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Then, continue on to the marvelous city of Venice. Overnight at the Hotel Bonvecchiati

Day 10 Venice
This morning you will enjoy a walking tour of Venice featuring St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace, the Bell Tower and the Bridge of Sighs. The tour ends with a visit to a glass blowing factory where you will see a demonstration of traditional Venetian glass blowing. Afternoon is at leisure to shop, relax in a cafe or take an optional gondola ride. Overnight Hotel Bonvecchiati

Day 11 Venice-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport or you can extend your stay in Venice. You can continue to Florence, Milan or Rome
