Narsaq
Narsaq is a small but beautiful village located in the amazing fjord systems of South Greenland.Just outside the village you will be able to visit the Inland Ice Cap and several glaciers. They are all easily accessible by boat on one of the many optional excursions in the area. In the outskirts of the village you will see Kvanefjeldet tower majestically a mountain which is known to be teeming with different minerals, It may well play an important role in Greenland’s future focus on the mining industry.

Narsarsuaq
This tour includes a short stay in Narsarsuaq, the area where Eric the Red decided to settle and where he found inspiration to name the new land: Greenland. It has recently been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. Beside the Viking history that dominates the area Narsarsuaq is also home to the only international airport of South Greenland with quite an amazing military history.

Itinerary

Day 1 Reykjavik-Narsarsuaq
Air Iceland flight from Reykjavik Domestic Airport to Narsarsuaq. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to the hotel. Later you will enjoy a guided tour of Narsarsuaq. Dinner and overnight Hotel Narsarsuaq.

Day 2 Narsarsuaq-Narsaq
Transfer from hotel to the pier and by boat through Eric’s Fjord to Narsaq. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to the hotel. Later you will enjoy a guided city walk. Overnight Hotel Narsaq.

Day 3 Narsaq
After breakfast at leisure or take one of our optional excursions. Dinner and overnight in Narsaq.

Day 4 Narsaq-Narsarsuaq
Breakfast at the hotel. There is time for farewell coffee with your guide and a chance to talk about your experiences in Greenland before you return to Narsarsuaq. If availability permits you will travel by helicopter. If not available you will travel by boat and cruise through the ice-filled fjord system. Overnight Hotel Narsarsuaq

Day 5 Ilulissat
Breakfast at the hotel. Leisure time until your flight with Air Iceland Connect to the Reykjavik Domestic Airport. Additional nights in Reykjavik can be added if needed.

Pre and post tour nights in Reykjavik available.

Excursions in Narsaq-Can be pre booked

Easy Hike-The Dyrnaes Peninsula-3 hours-450 DKK per person-A leisurely hike including a visit to a non-excavated Viking ruin, remains from the Eskimos as well as beautiful Arctic scenery. The hike is not that difficult and most people will be able to participate.

Boat to the Inland Ice Cap-4-5 hours-1950 DKK including lunch-Travel by boat across the ice filled Bredefjord to a fjord system northwest of Narsaq leading up to the impressive Twin Glaciers, where you go ashore on a small rock emerging from the glacier front. Here you will enjoy your packed lunch before continuing to another fjord with bird cliffs and a large waterfall.

Hike to Kvanefjeld-5-6 hours-800 DKK-Drive to the end of the road before beginning a slightly demanding hike to the mountain Kvanefjeldet which is famous for its great variety of minerals. There will be plenty of opportunity to explore the area and discovery the rich diversity in flora and fauna whilst the guide will tell you about the previous and current plans for mining in this area.

Evening Iceberg Safari-1 hour-DKK 980 per person-Enjoy a leisurely evening cruise where the sun never quite sets. Sail among the icebergs bathed in the orange and red colors of the midnight sun and enjoy a drink on the real rocks

Coffee Milk-1 hour-DKK 275 per person-Greenlanders are a proud people who enjoy socializing. Take the opportunity to visit a local Narsaq home for a traditional Coffee Milk where tea and coffee is served along with cake and an update on the local gossip.
