Itinerary

Day 1 Tallinn
Upon arrival at the Tallinn airport you will be met and taken to your centrally located hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure to begin your exploration of the charming Estonian capital. Overnight Hotel Olympia or similar.

Day 2 Tallinn-Tartu-Cesis
After breakfast head to the Lahemaa National Park where you visit the Manor Houses in Palmse and Vihula. Continue to Tartu, the university town and the second largest city in Estonia. You will see the charming Old Town and the University which was founded in 1632. From Tartu drive onward into Latvia to Cesis, a Hanseatic city with winding streets, castle ruins and beautiful gardens. See the ruins of the Castle of the Livonian Order and the St. John’s Church. Day 3 Cesis-Sigulda-Rundale Palace-Vilnius
Today you will drive through the Gauja National Park to Sigulda, one of the most important places in Latvia. See the ruins of the Episcopal Castle and the ruins of the Castle of the Knights of the Sword before you continue to the Rundale Palace, the former summer residence of the Duke of Courland. After a guided tour of the palace travel through Lithuania to reach its capital, Vilnius. Overnight Hotel Lietuva or similar.

Day 4 Vilnius-Trakai-Klaipeda
Vilnius is known for its more than 1,200 medieval buildings and 48 churches. Your morning sightseeing tour includes a panoramic tour of the city and a walking tour of the Old Town with Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Tower, Peter and Paul Church, St. Anna’s Church, Old University and the Gates of Dawn. After the tour continue to Trakai, the medieval capital of Lithuania. You will visit the well preserved Trakai Castle, beautifully located on an island in the middle of Lake Galve. The balance of the day is spent en route to Klaipeda, Lithuania’s main port, where you will arrive in the late afternoon. Overnight Hotel National or similar.

Day 5 Klaipeda- Curonian Spit-Klaipeda
Today is reserved for a full day tour to the Curonian Spit, a thin, 100km stretch of land between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon with small fishing villages, pine forests and endless sand dunes. Visit the resort town of Nida with the High Dunes and the summerhouse of the German writer Thomas Mann. On the return to Klaipeda you will make a stop at the Hill of Witches in the resort town of Juodkrante. This evening you will enjoy a dinner at the restaurant 19th Century. Day 6 Klaipeda-Hill of Crosses-Riga
Klaipeda first became a part of Lithuania in 1923 and had a long history as a German town called Memel. The morning’s sightseeing tour takes us to the Old Town with its narrow, cobblestone streets and old guild houses and you will visit the Theater Square and the Aennchen von Tharau Fountain. Continue to the Samogitia National Park for a walk around the picturesque Lake Plateliai. Drive to Siauliai and the Hill of Crosses, one of the holiest sites in Catholic Lithuania. Later arrive to Riga and enjoy an organ concert in the Dome Cathedral. Overnight Wellton Riverside or similar.

Day 7 Riga
Riga founded in 1201 by the German bishop Albert is the largest of the three Baltic capitals and boasts a kaleidoscope of various architectural styles. the walking tour of the Old Town includes Riga Castle, Dome Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, Swedish Gates, Large and Small Guild House and the Freedom Monument. The afternoon is reserved for a visit to the famous seaside resort of Jurmala, famous for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. In the evening you will enjoy dinner at the Forest restaurant. Day 8 Riga-Parnu-Tallinn
The tour continues via the coastal highway to the Estonian summer resort of Parnu, with a short tour of the resort and a leisurely walk on the beach. The balance of the day goes through the North Estonian land of forests to Tallinn. Overnight Hotel Olympia or similar.

Day 9 Tallinn
Tallinn is a charming blend of medieval tranquility and modern urban life. The medieval Old Town is a busy place in the summer with its many shops, galleries, outdoor markets, cafes and restaurants. Your sightseeing tour takes you around the old medieval city walls and into the Old Town where you will see the Toompea Castle, Dome Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Old Town Hall. In the afternoon you will be taken to the Kadriorg Park and a visit to the the famous KUMU Estonian art museum. This evening you will enjoy a traditional medieval dinner at the Maikrahv restaurant. Day 10 Tallinn-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport or you can extend your stay in Tallinn or continue with a tour of Helsinki or to St. Petersburg.
