Kirkenes is located in the far northeastern part of Norway in the municipality of Sor – Varanger. With this short break you will experience what this area has to offer, a sparsely populated land, extreme climate and infinite darkness. The Russian czar, the Russian Revolution, Finnish immigration, and World War II made this city a multi-cultural melting pot. Kirkenes is situated between two time zones; Helsinki and Moscow. There, people speak Norwegian, Sami, Finnish and Russian. You will enjoy a unique and extreme experience!

Itinerary
Day 1 Kirkenes
Upon arrival to Kirkenes and self transfer to your hotel. At night you will chase the Aurora lights and if you are lucky you will see one of the most beautiful natural phenomenon in the world. Each appearance of the northern lights is unique and the lights come as flickering curtains or rolling smoke. The color is a luminous green, often with a hint of pink along the edge, and occasionally with a deep violet center. Overnight at the Rica Arctic Hotel or similar.
Day 2 Kirkenes
Breakfast at the hotel. At 1pm you will depart with a snowmobile (on a sledge) for a 4 hour King Crab catching on the frozen ocean. This is the best seafood you can possibly eat and you will have the opportunity to taste your own catch for lunch at the fisherman’s house. After this once in a life experience you will sleep in a nice Ice room equipped with a comfortable ice bed and sleeping bag graded for -35 degrees Celsius. Accommodation at the Snow Hotel, dinner is included.
Day 3 Kirkenes
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy a relaxing morning at the snow hotel and discover its wonderful surroundings. At 1pm, the 4 hour dog sledding will start. You will be picked up at your hotel and get warm clothes and equipment. Your guide will teach you the basics of handling your team and you will ride into the nature. On the way, you will have a wilderness lunch break. Overnight at the Rica Arctic or similar. Hotel.
Day 4 Kirkenes-End of Tour
Breakfast at the hotel. Self transfer to the airport. You can extend your stay in Kirkenes or continue to Oslo, Bergen the Fjord area, the Olympic town of Lillehammer, Stockholm or Copenhagen.
