Itinerary

Day 1 Cuzco-Puno
You will be taken to the bus station for your ride through the Peruvian countryside to Puno. See the herds of alpaca and llamas grazing on the highland pampas, interspersed with small villages and the majestic backdrop of the Andes. Lunch is included. You will visit the town of Ayaviri, an important livestock and textile center, for a visit to the impressive Temple of Kalasasaya, remnants of the ancient Pucara culture. Next is Racchi, where you will see a spectacular Inca sanctuary built by Inca Pachacutec, and dedicated to the great Inca God of Wiracocha. It has a great central wall with a stone base of fine Inca architecture. Other walls are made of giant adobe bricks. the structure also has two circular lateral columns. Around the Temple are several buildings once used for housing and storage. You will continue to Andahuaylillas, where you will visit the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, also known as the Sisitne Chapel of the Americas, due to its decorated polychrome ceiling. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant on the way to Puno. Upon arrival in Puno you will be taken to your hotel for overnight.

Day 2 Puno
Today you will visit by boat the floating islands of the Uros Indians (3,000 descendants of the Uro are alive today most on the mainland but a few hundred live on the islands) on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Lunch is included. Overnight in Puno.

Day 3 Puno-Lima
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Lima (not included). On the way you will visit the pre-Incan burial ground of Sillustani located on the shores of Lake Titicaca. The tombs, which are built above ground in tower-like structures called Chullpas, are the vestiges of the Colla people. The structures housed the remains of complete family groups, although they were probably limited to nobility. Upon arrival in Lima you will be met and taken to your hotel.
