Itinerary

Day 1 Bucharest-Sinaia
Upon arrival to the Bucharest airport you will be met and taken to Sinaia, a charming mountain resort known as the “Pearl of the Carpathians.” Dinner and overnight Hotel Palace.

Day 2 Sinaia-Bran-Brasov-Sighisoara
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the splendid Peles Palace, the former summer residence of the first King of Romania, Carl 1. Continue to Bran for a visit to the castle made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel as the residence of the vampire count. The castle was built by the merchants of Brasov in the 14th century to protect the border between Valahia and Transylvania. Later depart to Brasov, a fairy-tale city founded in the 12th century by Saxon settlers. Brasov still preserves its beautiful medieval atmosphere created by many Middle Age buildings. The highlight of this tour is a visit to the Gothic Black Church, the largest Gothic style church in South-Eastern Europe. In the late afternoon you will arrive to Sighisoara, a Saxon medieval fortress town which has been listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site as the best preserved and continuously inhabited early medieval citadel in the world. Dinner and overnight Hotel Sigishoara.

Day 3 Sighisoara-Biertan-Meidas-Sibiu
This morning you will be taken on a walking tour of Sighisoara that includes the famous Clock Tower Museum and Torture Room, the Evangelical Church and the Armor Room. You will also visit the house in which Count Dracula/Vlad the Impeller was born and the Church on the Hill. Continue to the Saxon village of Biertan where you will visit the fortress church that is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The church hosts the largest wing alter in Romania and was used as the residence of the Lutheran bishop of Transylvania for over 300 years. On your way to Sibiu a stop will be made in the town of Medias which was first mentioned in documents in the 13th century. You will visit the Evangelical Church and the Old Town. In the afternoon you will arrive to Sibiu the Cultural Capital of Europe for 2007. Dinner and overnight Hotel Ramada.

Day 4 Sibiu
This morning you will be taken on a tour of the Cultural Capital of Europe of 2007. You will see the well preserved medieval district with its Grand and Lesser Squares, Evangelical Church, Baroque Church and the Liars Bridge. Later you will visit the Dumbrava Sibiului Open-Air Ethnographic Museum. In the afternoon you will drive to the village of Sibiel where you will admire the interesting exhibitions at the Glass Icon Museum. A hearty Romanian dinner will be served at a local farmhouse. Overnight Hotel Ramada.

Day 5 Sibiu-Cozia Monastery-Bucharest
After breakfast depart for Bucharest. Cross the Carpathian Mountains and through the scenic Olt River Valley. On the way a stop will be made at the impressive Cozia Monastery which was built in the 14th century. Upon arrival in Bucharest you will be taken on a city tour that includes visits to the House of the People, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon and the interesting Village Museum. You will also see the Romanian Atheneum, Opera House and the Triumphal Arch. Dinner with folklore show will be served in a local restaurant. Overnight Hotel Golden Tulip.

Day 6 Bucharest-End of Tour
After breakfast you will be taken to the airport. You can extend your stay in lovely Bucharest or Continue to Bulgaria or Hungary.
